Holds a BCompt Degree, Diploma in Management Accounting, Advance Diploma in Management Accounting. He a qualified Chartered Management Accountant and is an associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). He is also a qualified Tax Practitioner and a member of South African Institute of Tax Practitioners (SAIT). Silence has extensive experience in internal audit and risk management, external audit, preparation of financial statements, fixed assets register compilation, development of policies and municipal bye laws, taxation, PFMA, etc. Silence served his articles with KPMG and after articles held a number of managerial and executive positions in public sector.
